The city’s location just outside Edinburgh, with exposure to colder air from the Scottish Highlands, boosts the likelihood of a frosty Christmas.
Edinburgh is the third city in Scotland — and the 10th in the UK — most likely to see snow this Christmas. Although it has an average of just 2.09 snow days each December, Edinburgh’s average Christmas snow depth of 3.65 cm is 31% deeper than Stirling’s 2.51cm. Its proximity to the Pentland Hills ensures colder conditions and an elevated chance of snowfall compared to many other cities on the list.
