Move over Sylvester Stallone, Warburtons has hired some serious Hollywood muscle for its latest TV ad: the Muppets.
The advert is part of a £25m campaign backing the launch of the bakery brand’s new Giant Crumpets range. The ‘Giant Crumpet Show’ stars all of the Muppets’ best-loved characters, including Kermit the Frog; The Swedish Chef; Fozzie Bear; Statler and Waldorf; and Miss Piggy.
Warburtons is the category leader in wrapped bakery, currently holding a 26.2% unit share. The launch of Giant Crumpets is a market first for the baker, which currently produces the UK’s number one selling standard crumpet.
Jonathan Warburton, Chairman of Warburtons said: “Since our standard crumpets first landed on shelves, they have been a firm favourite with families. We knew the only way to make them better was to make them bigger, and what better way to rise to the challenge than with a Warburtons Giant Crumpets spectacular featuring the larger than life Muppets!”
Commenting on The Giant Crumpet Show, Kermit the Frog said: “It’s the thickest and fluffiest production we’ve ever done. We held nothing back, and I’m proud to say no Giant Crumpets were harmed during the making of this advert.”
