Diageo has launched a new super-premium Italian gin, Villa Ascenti.
The roll out follows the building of the new Distilleria Santa Vittoria and refurbishment of a copper pot still from the 1970s. The £360,000 distillery has been built on the site of the brand home, Villa Ascenti, in Santa Vittoria.
Master Distiller Lorenzo Rosso works with local producers and farmers in Italy’s northwest Piemonte region to source ingredients for the gin, including Moscato grapes, fresh mint and thyme.
Commenting on the new drink, Rosso said: “It’s a beautiful gin with the region at its heart in its aroma and flavour, but also in how it’s best enjoyed – around the table with friends.”
Villa Ascenti Gin (70cl, ABV 41%) joins Diageo Reserve, the company’s luxury portfolio, and is available now with an RSP of £35.
