JW Filshill boss Simon Hannah (pictured) has been named as Deputy Chairman of Unitas Wholesale, the new buying group formed from the merger of Landmark Wholesale and Today’s Group.
He takes up the role when the merger completes on November 1, with Blakemore Wholesale MD Sam Wilcox filling the Chairman’s seat on the Board.
The board comprises eight member Directors from Today’s and eight from Landmark. These include Amaan Ramzan of United Wholesale Grocers, Jim Cummiskey of Failte Foods, George Hepburn from JWG, and United Wholesale (Scotland)’s Asim Sarwar.
Today’s Group boss Darren Goldney will pick up the reins as Unitas Managing Director, with Landmark MD John Mills taking on the deputy role.
Andrew Thewlis, Finance Director of Landmark Wholesale; Today’s Group Trading Director John Baines; and its Retail Director John Kinney will continue in the same roles for Unitas.
John Schofield, Finance Director for Today’s Group will act as Transformation Director for the new entity, before retiring from the business in May 2019.
Commenting on the appointments of Goldney and Mills, Sam Wilcox said: “Darren and John have worked hard and collaboratively over recent months to cut through previous organisational differences and focus on the vision and strategy that will work for both groups’ members and suppliers in the long term and both Boards thank them.
“Their complementary range of skills will be vital to drive our development agenda and bring the great experiences of both organisations together to form a new one.”
