Xander Schauffele wasn’t the only person to come home a winner after the 152nd Open Golf Championship at Royal Troon, which finished on 21 July.

KeyStore Central Avenue, which is less than two miles from the club where the tournament was held, decided to hold its own mini golf event in-store in honour of the prestigious tournament.

Rolling out its own golfing green alongside the alcohol chillers and soft drinks aisle, customers were invited to see if they could get a hole in one in. Despite the rain, plenty of people came to take part in the activity and were rewarded with a plethora of prizes, including Eden Mill Golf Gin, Object Bluetooth headphones, snacks, sweets, hats and bottle openers.

Store Manager Dora Morton said the event was a great way to engage with her local community and help parents entertain their children over the school holidays. “Customers were quite surprised to see it [the golf competition in store],” she said. “It was a bit of fun and it drew in a few kids.”
