Old El Paso says it will revolutionise the world of chips and dips with its latest new product.
The bold claim was made to herald the June arrival of Tortilla Bowls, a sea-salt-flavoured bowl-shaped chip built for scooping up industrial quantities of dip.
The launch will be supported by a sizeable marketing campaign.
Brand owner General Mills is keen to promote the versatility of the product, which has an RSP of £1.65. It said almost three-quarters (73%) of consumers in its testing programme would serve Tortilla Bowls as a starter, while over half (53%) said they’d make a great canapé.
Lindsay Hill, Marketing Manager for Meals & Baking at General Mills, added: “At Old El Paso, we believe happiness is eating food with the people we love, and we exist to create these easy, noisy, talky, shared moments. Tortilla Bowls build on this, offering another tasty part of a Mexican meal that can be passed around and enjoyed.”
