Fuel and convenience-specific support services provider TLM Technologies (TLM) has named Jonathan Rons (pictured) as its Head of Convenience.
The appointment signals TLM’s commitment to further expand into the convenience sector with its Evolution suite of Epos, back office, and head office applications, all of which are delivered as Software-as-a-Service.
Rons brings a wealth of experience to the company, having worked in the convenience sector for more than 25 years. After starting his career within the forecourt arena with Conoco he then moved into traditional convenience retailing, holding senior positions with Musgrave, My Local, HIM, and more latterly Zapper mobile payment services, where he was Business Development Director.
As Head of Convenience, Rons will develop TLM’s focused convenience strategy. With huge crossover between TLM’s heritage in forecourt retail and standalone convenience retail, TLM is concentrating heavily on the standalone convenience sector where it believes its Evolution suite is ready to help retailers capture new revenue and margin opportunities and transition their businesses into the digital era. Already used by several convenience retailers, Evolution connects all the financial, operational and digital systems integral to modern retailing.
Commenting on his new appointment, Jonathan Rons said: “My more recent career really opened my eyes to the extent of the technology challenge facing convenience retailers today. Unfortunately, the market is full of different solutions and price entry points. Getting the systems retailers rely on to work together continues to be a challenge, and that’s not going away, with the need to provide shoppers with new digital experiences in-store.
“TLM puts clever technology within reach of every type of convenience retailer – from local independents to larger multiples. There’s no doubt in my mind that the solutions TLM is offering are something the market needs; they bring the welcomed functionality retailers are looking for.”
Lee Papper, CEO at TLM, added: “We’re really thrilled that Jonathan has joined. We believe his experience will be instrumental in helping us to further develop our focused convenience strategy. We already have a good footprint in convenience and are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead of us. The Evolution suite sets new standards in connected retail and Jonathan is well-placed to help us bring the benefits to the wider convenience market.”
