Thorntons launch is a little bit tempting

Thorntons is bidding to boost the cake bites segment with the launch of Little Temptations – mini bites of cornflake clusters, chocolate and fudge packaged in 110g zip lock grab bags.

The cake bites segment has seen strong growth in the last year, with sales totalling more than £35m annually. Thorntons has a 40% share of the market and has seen a sales increase of 25% year on year.

The brand is also keen to tap into the growing popularity of sharing bags. Zip lock packaging allows consumers to open and reseal – perfect for portion control and allowing the consumer to share a treat wherever they are, from on the go snacking to spending a night in front of the TV with family.

Little Temptations is being manufactured under licence by Finsbury Food Group.

We are excited to be launching the first cake bite into the market that is packaged in a re-sealable bag. Increasing numbers of consumers want treats that can be shared in and out of home and we believe the format of Little Temptations fits this perfectly.”
