The SNP 2024 Manifesto has revealed plans for new borrowing powers for the Scottish devolved administration, as well as devolved employment rights and the minimum wage.
Party leader John Swinney said: “The Westminster system is broken, and for far too many people, the UK economy has failed. So, at this election the SNP is putting forward a positive, optimistic and hopeful alternative to that broken system and that failed economy.”

UK reserved issues & taxation
- New borrowing powers for the Scottish devolved administration.
- Devolve employment rights and the Minimum Wage. End zero hours contracts; ban ‘fire and rehire practices; end the sick pay threshold; and repeal the Minimum Service Bill.
- Devolve National Insurance, windfall taxation, road tax and fuel duty.
- Lower rate of VAT for hospitality and tourism.
- Devolve migration powers for Scotland.
Public Health
- Reintroduce UK-wide legislation to create a smoke free generation and a ban on single-use vapes.
Retail Crime
- Work with police in the EU to address cross border crime, organised crime, cyber-crime and terrorism.

- Call for a second independence referendum if the SNP win a majority of Scottish seats.
- Rejoin the European Union.
