Confectionery brand Chupa Chups has unveiled a new collection of ‘The Force Awakens’ drinking cups and ‘Best of’ sharing bags, timed to coincide with the release of the latest Star Wars film.
The new collectible drinking cups each house ten Chupa Chup lollipops. There are three different designs within the range, each featuring a scene from The Force Awakens, with an rrp of £4 per unit.
In addition to this, Chupa Chups is also launching a Star Wars edition of its ‘Best of’ sharing bag. Sales of the ‘Best of’ bags’ have grown by 20% and overall, Chupa Chups is experiencing 16.8% growth year on year.
Trade Marketing Manager at Perfetti Van Melle, Mark Roberts said: “We’re very excited about our new range. Star Wars has been ranked as the number two boys’ toy licence in Europe, and the last time a film was released, branded merchandise generated $3bn worth of sales.
“We’ve chosen two distinctly different products to license, and are confident that both offer our retail partners a chance to tap into what is expected to be a very large spend. The film marks the start of a new trilogy, so we expect to see an on-going interest and increased awareness of Star Wars merchandise.”
