Camelot has set a new National Lottery sales record of £7,595m for the 2015/16 financial year, an increase of £317m on the previous year.
Accounting for around 80% of all sales (over £6bn last year), retail remains the largest National Lottery sales channel –with independents making up the majority of outlets. Camelot’s retail partners earned over £333m in sales commission in 2015/16 – over £7,000, on average, per store.
James Pearson, Camelot’s Head of Retail Channel, commented: “We’re thrilled to have passed the £6 billion mark for retail sales – a new record – and I’d like to congratulate and thank our retail partners and their customers for their vital role in this achievement.
“Our success will continue to be driven by an ongoing commitment to invest in our retail partners, with a particular focus on innovation. We’ve had some great feedback on our recently revamped retailer website, which provides retailers with the flexibility to manage their accounts anytime, anywhere.”
The figure raised for good causes since the lottery’s launch in 1994 has now passed the £35bn mark.
