Christmas may be the next big event on the calendar, but it doesn’t hurt to look ahead, and Ferrero has released details of its planned activity for spring.
The brand hopes a combined marketing investment of £1.3m across its portfolio, the introduction of new seasonal products and golden stand-out merchandising will enable retailers to capitalise on the £139m boxed chocolate sales opportunity created by spring occasions.
Ferrero’s sights for 2016 remain firmly set on accelerating growth for the core range, and the brand is aiming to attract more shoppers with the introduction of a new premium novelty, Grand Rocher 240g (rrp £8.99), which will sit alongside Grand Rocher 125g (rrp £5.24). The milk chocolate and hazelnut shell including four Ferrero Rocher, will “form a perfect special gift, which meets shoppers’ needs when looking for something special to give to their loved ones”.
Levi Boorer, Customer Development Director for Ferrero, advised retailers to plan in advance for the key calendar events of Valentine’s Day (14th February), Mother’s Day (6th March) and Easter (25-28th March): “We have great products to meet these occasions and the gifting packs are a must stock. There will always be the distress purchase occasion and retailers who have gift cards and a pen positioned alongside the chocolate confectionery aisle might just save the day.”
