The first day of spring (March 1) is out there somewhere buried beneath a foot of snow, and Spar retailers have sprung into action in support of Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal once more.
Following Spar’s first year of backing Marie Curie in 2017 when it raised more than £640,000 for charity, stores nationwide are once again flowering-up until the end of the month to support this hugely worthy cause.
Spar stores are selling daffodil pins with a suggested donation of £1 each and are running a number of fundraising activities throughout March to support the campaign, including:
- Go Yellow days for employees
- Donations from the sales of several products including Daz, Hartley’s jam, McVities biscuits, Mars pouches and Spar Brand coffee
- Support from Spar radio and social media
For every donation given and every daffodil worn, Marie Curie can provide more free care to people living with a terminal illness and their families, said Spar UK Marketing Controller Laura McNally.
“This is a great opportunity to raise money for this fantastic cause and get behind our national charity partner,” she said.
“Marie Curie’s nurses help people living with terminal illnesses and their families to make the most of the time they have left. Our retailers are helping everyone have the care and support they need at the end of their life, by supporting Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal.”
Helen Stock, Senior Corporate Account Manager at Marie Curie, added: “We are thrilled that Spar stores getting behind Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal this year. The money raised from all these wonderful activities will ensure Marie Curie can continue providing vital support across the UK for people with a terminal illness and their families. A huge thank you to everyone at Spar!”
