Spar is refreshing its evening meals offering this autumn, with the launch of three new Italian and traditional ready meals, two hand stretched sourdough premium pizzas and a range of meal accompaniments.
The new ready meals are Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni; Spaghetti Carbonara, and Slow Cooked Beef with Root Vegetable Mash (all two for £5 PMP).
Two variants of pizza will be available: SunBlush Tomato, Italian Mozzarella & Basil Pesto; and Italian Salami, Smoky Provolone Cheese & Caramelized Red Onion Chutney (both rrp at £4 or two for £7 on promotion).
A couple of prepared mash variants are also being rolled out – Creamy Mashed Potato; and Carrot & Swede Mash. On promotion at £1, these lines further extend Spar’s range of quick and easy meals for customers.
The range of accompaniments, which includes Onion Bhajis, Vegetable Spring Rolls and Vegetable Samosas is being repositioned as twin packs at £1 following a successful promotion which increased sales by 119%.
Commenting on the new products, which all reflect a simpler pricing strategy for the retail chain, Susan Darbyshire, Spar Brand Director, said they were “a testament to the great quality, fantastic value prices, and convenience of our Spar Brand range.”
The evening meals and accompaniments will be available from 8th October, with pizzas in stores from the 29th.
Looking ahead to Christmas, Spar Brand is introducing a 20cl Perlezza Prosecco bottle and chocolates gift pack (rrp £5), and the popular 150cl Prosecco Magnum (rrp £14) will make a seasonal comeback. It will be available to retailers from 22nd October. Also from October, Spar Marquis Belrive Champagne will move to an ongoing everyday low price of £16 per bottle.
These developments all come as a new autumn media campaign was unveiled, which will focus on eight of Spar Brand’s biggest sellers.
Spar Assorted Mini Ice Creams, Pear Cider, Pulled Pork, Premium Reserve Cider, Perlezza Prosecco, Mixed Olives with Chilli, Rack of Ribs and Argentinian Malbec will all benefit from exposure on Channel 4 and entertainment channel Watch.
Darbyshire explained: “Spar is highlighting these eight products in a move to boost sales and profit by showcasing the amazing quality available in shoppers’ local store. It’s a win-win for retailers too, as the products have been developed to ensure an extended shelf life without compromising on quality.”
