Spar Scotland has donated £5k to the symbol group’s national charity partner, Marie Curie, after a promotion with Rollover Hotdogs in 80 company-owned stores during December 2023.

The charity campaign started on 1 December and ran until 31 December 2023, where 15p from the sale of every Rollover Hotdog would be donated to Marie Curie. The £2,500 raised in-store has been matched by Rollover Hotdogs and CJ Lang, raising a total of £5,000 from the campaign for Marie Curie.

Paula Middleton, Head of Marketing at Spar Scotland, said: “It was great to once again partner with Rollover Hotdogs on this campaign and raise vital funds for our national charity partner Marie Curie. By working together, we were able to not only boost sales of Rollover Hotdogs but also raise money for Marie Curie.

“Our £5k donation will support 218 hours of care from Marie Curie Nurses, making a huge difference to people living with a terminal illness, and their loved ones, across the Scotland.”

Spar Scotland and Rollover also ran this campaign in 2021 and 2022 and now the two companies have jointly raised £13,000 in total for Marie Curie over the past three years.

Spart has raised over £3m for Marie Curie since the national charity partnership began in 2017.

In response, Marie Curie Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager Christine Connor, said: “This is the third year running the Rollover Christmas Campaign with Spar Scotland has been in operation, and each year it goes from strength to strength. The increased social media and addition of in-store advertising across live screens in stores has helped raise awareness of our charity too, and in turn helps us to reach more people in need of our services.

“The money raised for Marie Curie helps provide care and support to people living with any terminal illness and their loved ones, whether in the comfort of their own homes, or in our two Scottish hospices.

David Dewhurst, Northern Regional Manager at Rollover, added: “It is such an honour for Rollover to be able to support such a worthy cause. Marie Curie and its nurses offer support to people and families affected by dying, death and bereavement from any terminal illness.”

The funds were presented to Connor at Marie Curie’s Glasgow Hospice by Stephen Brown and Evelyn McGaw from CJ Lang and Son, alongside Dewhurst.
