Residents of the Maryhill area of Glasgow are welcoming the arrival of a new local post office, thanks to Spar Maryhill, which has opened a post office in store following the closure of St George’s Cross Post Office.
The post office is expected to increase customer numbers by 25%, who will be able to pay their bills, collect their pension and exchange currency, amongst many others. It is hoped that this increase in footfall will positively correlate to the store’s sales.
The move also secures the postal facility for the local community, after it was announced thousands of Post Office branches may face closure across theUK.
Store owner, Iqbal Sadiq, said “Feedback from customers has been positive, many impressed with the open plan layout. Since re-opening the store has been busy and we certainly see this benefiting the business.”
The busy store also operates a Subway franchise.
