Spar Hillfoot Road, in Ayr, has celebrated its re-launch following an extensive store refit.
The Spar Scotland company-owned store has received major investment to bring it in line with CJ Lang’s latest store models and its drive to be more energy efficient.
The store’s exterior now has a new bright Spar fascia, updated window graphics, and external signage. Internally there has been a complete refit with new flooring, ceiling finish, lighting, shelving, and counter installed. Major investment has been made to upgrade the refrigerated equipment and space.
The food-to-go area has had a major boost, both in self-serve options and for items served at the counter area. The beers, wines and spirits area has also been upgraded and now chilled beers and wines are available for customers.
Steve Irons, Company-Owned Stores Operations Director, said: “Our ambition is to bring everything that our neighbours in our local community would expect to see in their local store. Focus has been given to ensuring that our offer of chilled products, fruit and vegetables have been improved, along with snacking and ambient ranges to meet all meal requirements.”
In addition, price information has been modernised with the installation of clearly visible electronic shelf edge labels along with large digital screens giving promotion and product information.
Meanwhile, all lighting is to LED efficiency standards and lighting in the storage areas operates with sensors.
Irons added: “Our drive to improve energy efficiency leads to all new chilled and frozen refrigeration which meets the changes to legislation coming into force in 2030. Our drive to efficiency sees our business meeting our responsibilities years in advance.”
At the relaunch celebrations, suppliers Barr, Snappy Shopper and Browning’s were at the store to provide customers with product samples and vouchers. Customers were given goody bags and had the chance to win lots of prizes from the Spar spinning wheel.
This is the latest store in the Spar Scotland portfolio to receive a major refit, following in the footsteps of Spar company-owned stores in Balmacara, Gatehouse of Fleet, Spean Bridge, and Crosshouse.
