Spar stores in Scotland are stocking a range of bedding plants ahead of the May Day bank holiday weekend including pansies, violas, French marigolds and petunias priced at £3.99.
The plants are from Kinrossie-based nursery A & G Young, which usually supplies garden centres. As these are currently closed due to coronavirus lockdown restrictions, the Spar deal has helped save a large number of plants from going to waste.
Spar Scotland boss Colin McLean said: “It is great that we can continue to support this Scottish supplier and be able to offer customers interested in gardening a great range of bedding plants from A & G Young in time for the bank holiday weekend.
“We hope that offering a range of bedding plants will encourage people to be active throughout the lockdown.”
