Skittles Pox breaks out on TV

Child with Skittles sweets stuck to their face

Skittles is back on TV an infectious new advert, which aims to show just how contagious they really are.

The advert sees a new character, Billy, with a body covered in Skittles – the result of having caught ‘Skittles Pox’. A curious friend pulls a Skittles off of his face and proceeds to eat it… she immediately comes out in Skittles Pox too. The advert ends with the line ‘Contract the Rainbow, Taste the Rainbow’.

Worth over £38m, Skittles has grown by 10% over the last two years and this new ad, supported by integrated Facebook and Twitter campaigns, aims to help retailers drive further growth and boost sales.

Tony Lorman, Wrigley European Confections Business Unit Director, said: “Skittles is one of the top selling confectionery brands and this latest ad shows just how infectious they are in a fun, light-hearted way.”

The ad forms part of a big year for Skittles in 2015, which has already seen the introduction of a new bottle format and the teaming up with Xbox to offer consumers the chance to win an Xbox One with every promotional bag sold.

Point of sale material to support the campaign is available on request.
