Shetland brewery celebrates peat cutting with new brew

Tushkar

Shetland’s Lerwick Brewery, brewers of highly-acclaimed 60°North and Skipper’s Ticket, are launching Tushkar, the Brewery’s first oatmeal stout.

Celebrating the Shetland Islands’ long heritage of peat cutting, the beer is named after the implement which Shetlanders use to cut peats from the barren hillsides. With very few trees on Shetland, Shetlanders have relied on peat as their main source of fuel for thousands of years.

Tushkar is said to have strong coffee and chocolate notes, paired with light carbonation. It is 5.5% abv, available in 330ml bottles and is launched on 18th August. It will be available to customers in Shetland and across Scotland and the UK through Lerwick Brewery’s range of distributors and direct from the Brewery.
