SGF urges retailers to share impact of wage increases

The Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF) has asked retailers to complete a short survey to assess the impact of wage increases on its members. 

From the 1st April 2025, the National Living Wage (NLW) will rise to £12.21 for those over the age of 21. This marks a 6.7% increase on last year. “This increase will present the retail sector supply chain, and in particular convenience stores, with significant financial challenges,” stated SGF.

The survey findings will help inform SGF’s annual ‘True Cost of Employment 2025’ report and feed into the trade body’s response to the Low Pay Commission consultation this summer.
