The Scottish Grocers’ Federation has updated its guide for retailers selling vaping and tobacco products.

The guide can help retailers navigate the laws governing the sale of tobacco and vape products and prepare for the ban of single-use vapes.

Retailers are provided with detailed information on product compliance; retailers’ responsibilities; and how to identify a disposable vape.

The guide also includes updated advice for retailers on complying with Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations for vape sales. This includes information on the provision of vape bins and recycling advice.

Chief Exec, Dr Pete Cheema said: “There are big changes coming down the road for retailers regarding the sale of vape and tobacco
products, including a full ban on the sale of single-use vapes from 1st June 2025.
“We have therefore prepared this updated guide to our previous version published first in 2016 and then an updated version in 2023, so that retailers have a useful resource to help ensure they are familiar with and understand the key elements of the laws on the sale of tobacco products and e-cigarettes, which are currently in force.”
