The Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF) celebrated what Chief Executive Pete Cheema hailed as the “biggest and most successful Annual Golf Day” in the Federation’s history, despite torrential rain from start to finish! Held at the spectacular Duke’s Course in St Andrews, the day was attended by well over 50 golfers with 14 teams of retailers and suppliers competing for a range of prizes and trophies over the day.
Pete said: “One of our key aims at SGF is to bring together retailers and suppliers, in different settings, formal and informal to relax, get to know each other and look at the ways in which we can all improve business. Golf events have become part of the heritage and tradition of the Scottish Grocers’ Federation – the Howden Trophy, awarded for the best Stableford Score was first competed for in 1921!
“This years’ event was also the first organised in partnership with SLR magazine. This was a great success and helped to ensure both maximum publicity for the event and an extremely efficient organisation.”
Some stiff competition was on display with many excellent scores notched up by the end of the day.
The event was rounded off with a sumptuous dinner and drinks.
