Scotmid Co-operative and Conviviality Retail have revealed they are working in partnership to pilot a small number of stores in Scotland.
The trial, which will be launched in the early part of next year, will see Scotmid become Conviviality Retail’s exclusive Scottish franchisee.
John Brodie, Chief Executive of Scotmid Co-operative commented: “We will be working with Conviviality Retail in the coming weeks to identify the initial sites for the pilot. Conviviality Retail is highly regarded in their marketplace, and together we offer each other a number of exciting potential opportunities to develop and grow both our businesses.”
He added that if the trial proves successful for both parties there is the potential for further stores to be rolled out across Scotland.
Conviviality Retail is the owner of the UK’s largest franchised off-license and convenience chain with over 600 franchised operated stores in England and Wales, operating predominantly under the Bargain Booze, Bargain Booze Select Convenience and Wine Rack brands. The company recently hired Nisa’s Amanda Jones as COO, assuming the same position she held at the symbol group.
Diana Hunter, Chief Executive of Conviviality Retail said: “Scotmid’s excellence in retail management, property and local distribution together with our unique brand and trading experience creates a compelling customer proposition and allows us to expand geographically into Scotland.”
