Scotmid seeks good causes to support as flagship store opens

King's Theatre, Edinburgh

Scotmid has called on community groups in the Tollcross area of Edinburgh that would welcome support funding to get in touch.

The call came as Scotmid officially launched its new look, 9500sq ft Leven Street store following a major revamp, which includes the introduction of several new food and drink concepts, a refill counter for dried goods and a Scotmid ‘first’ – a walk-in, chilled wine and beer cellar.

One new concept at the flagship store is The Kitchen island, which provides customers with ready-made hot and cold food, pastries, sandwiches, snacks, pizza, noodles and various hot and cold drinks – with changing food choices to cater for breakfast, lunch and evening meal options.

To mark the reopening, Scotmid has already donated £500 to the Kings Theatre as part of the venue’s ‘name a step’ campaign, which sets out to aid work into making the premises accessible to all and to creating a welcoming community space with improved facilities.

Kirsty Connell, Scotmid Communities Manager, said: “As a co-operative based in the heart of the communities we serve, we are looking to continue our efforts to support local good causes and charities and would be delighted to hear from organisations who need some help in making a valuable difference.”

Local good causes and charities looking to find out more about how Scotmid could support them should contact Connell directly at kirstyconnell@scotmid.co.uk.
