GroceryAid has appointed David Wheeler (pictured), Head of Finance, Logistics at Sainsbury’s, to the role of Treasurer. In addition, Wheeler was named as a Trustee of the industry charity and Chair of its Finance Committee.
Wheeler began his career at PwC before moving to Home Retail Group as Head of Group Commercial and Financial Accounting. Following completion of the acquisition of Home Retail by Sainsbury’s, he supported the new management team with the initial integration of the two businesses. Wheeler subsequently moved into Sainsbury’s commerce finance leadership team to take on his current role of Head of Finance for the Logistics division.
As Treasurer of GroceryAid and Chair of its Finance Committee, he will oversee the charity’s finances and report back to the Trustee Board throughout the year.
Commenting on his new role, David Wheeler said: “GroceryAid plays such an important part in the welfare of so many grocery colleagues and I am delighted to be joining the charity. I look forward to being able to contribute to sustaining the charity’s growth at a time of great challenge for the industry.”
