JTI’s heated tobacco device, Ploom X Advanced, is now available to independent and symbol group retailers in Glasgow.
Outside of convenience and vape retailers in London, the device has previously only been stocked in supermarkets. The expansion in availability comes as JTI looks to build the heated tobacco category and also takes in the English city of Sheffield.
Ploom X Advanced launched in September 2023, boasting an optimised heating system and faster charging, and went on to win the Product of the Year 2024 heated tobacco category.
The heated tobacco category is currently worth £120m in traditional retail and growing at 8.9% year on year.
Mark McGuinness, Marketing Director at JTI UK, commented: “Our estimates suggest the heated tobacco category will be worth £400m by 2027 as more customers are seeking an alternative but familiar tobacco experience with devices that heat tobacco instead of burning it.”
McGuinness said JTI was looking forward to working closely with retailers in Glasgow “to educate them on the heated tobacco opportunity and to see them benefit from such a thriving category”.
Ploom X Advanced is available a bundle deal, including one device and two packs of EVO Tobacco Sticks for an RSP of £19. The expansion into Glasgow and Sheffield is supported with wholesale promotions on both Ploom bundles (from 20 May) and EVO tobacco sticks (from 17 June) for a limited time. Bespoke POS is available to retailers.
