Shortbread brand Paterson’s has accomplished its goal of raising £100,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in just one year.

The biscuit maker reached the impressive target after forming a partnership with the cancer charity in 2016, pledging to donate a percentage of proceeds from the sale of special promotional packs.

Thanks to Paterson’s customers up and down the country, the six-figure sum will help support Macmillan in its work to provide crucial services, such as information and support centres, to people living with cancer and their families. The charity has more than 160 centres across the UK, where people affected by cancer can get emotional, practical, medical and financial support from a friendly team of experts and trained volunteers.

Allan Miller, Sales and Marketing Director at Paterson Arran, said: “The response of our customers across the UK has been phenomenal and we are grateful for their support in helping us reach this amazing milestone. The funds raised have the potential to power 2,000 hours of support at Macmillan centres; a vital resource for those affected by cancer and their loved ones.”

Debbie Sumner, Senior Partnership Development Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, added: “Paterson’s has been truly committed to reaching their fundraising target over the last 12 months, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to their colleagues and customers. The incredible amount raised will help us to continue delivering essential help and support to the growing number of people living with cancer across the UK, and ensure that life with cancer can still be a life.”
