One-Stop franchise opens in Blackburn, West Lothian

Cutting the ribbon at new store

One Stop’s first official franchise store to move into EPoS trading in Scotland has opened following a full refit.

Javid and Shaista Iqbal, a husband and wife team who have been retailers for 20 years, decided to refurbish their store in Blackburn, West Lothian after feeling that their customer offering was getting “a little tired”. After careful consideration, and visits to some of the symbol group’s stores south of the border, Javid and Shaista decided to partner with One Stop.

Their own investment, along with £50,000 from One Stop, has enabled them to add new chillers; extend the store; re-site the tills; and put in a new floor, shelving and shop front.

Commenting on the decision to grow the business, Javid said: “We looked at lots of different options, but One Stop stood out from the crowd with their great pricing, strong promotions and great meal solutions for customers; including a lunchtime meal deal at £3, and an evening meal solution at £6. We believe in One Stop and the team behind the brand, they will help us grow.”

John Miller, Head of Operations for One Stop Franchise, added: “I’m really proud to be working with Javid and his family helping them reinvigorate and transform their business. One Stop has brought something new and fresh to Scotland. We are different from the competition with retail knowledge and understanding at our core, meaning we can bring a strong proposition that is tailored for their customers.”

The opening brings One-Stop’s total of Scottish stores to five: three franchises and two which are company-owned.
