Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity is set to donate £1,000 to 50 community causes from across the UK as part of the launch of the 6th round of the Heart of the Community Awards.
The £50,000 donation fund is aimed at supporting ‘winter warmers’ such as homeless shelters and warm hubs.
The Heart of the Community Awards is a popular funding giveaway through MADL for Nisa retailers. Each year, Nisa retailers nominate local causes that they believe could benefit from a donation. The 50 winning causes are then selected by a panel of judges. To date more than £600,000 has been donated through the initiative.
Kate Carroll, Head of Charity at Nisa, said: “This initiative is a great way for Nisa retailers to give back to their local communities and help those in need during the winter months.”
This year, the Heart of the Community is focusing on winter warmers. The selected causes will use the donations to provide essential items such as food, clothing, blankets, warm hubs, and more to people who are homeless, vulnerable or in need.
Helen Walker, Charity Marketing Manager for MADL, said: “We know that winter can be a difficult time for many people especially during the current cost of living crisis. That’s why we’re committed to supporting those in need through the Heart of the Community Awards.”
The 50 winning causes will be announced in November 2023. The selected causes will also receive a ticket to Fundraising on the Margins, an afternoon session where hundreds of fundraisers from across the UK will come together to be upskilled, network, share experiences and be empowered to achieve more for their causes.
