Nisa Chairman Christopher Baker is to step down following the symbol group’s Annual General Meeting later this month.
Baker, who has been in post since January 2013, believes the Company and its members now need a new Chairman to take the business forward.
“Nisa has now been stabilised after a challenging few years, and I am confident that the foundations are in place for it to capitalise on its potential,” he commented.
Peter Hartley has been appointed interim non-executive Chairman designate. Hartley joined the Nisa Board in December 2012 as an independent non-executive director. He chairs Nisa’s audit committee as well as sitting on the remuneration and nominations committees. A chartered accountant with banking qualifications, he has extensive retail sector experience at both strategic and operations levels having held a number of CEO as well as finance director roles.
Thanking Baker for his hard work and dedication, Hartley said: “Chris has provided strong leadership through some challenging times at Nisa, and has guided the business through the recent initial recovery.
“I am looking forward to working closely with Nisa’s members and the executive management team in my capacity as interim non-executive Chairman. I am confident that Nisa is capable of playing a significant and exciting role in the UK’s vital convenience sector.”
The Nisa Board will announce the process for the appointment of a new non-executive Chairman at the AGM in September.
