The Scottish Wholesale Association (SWA) has announced the appointments of Julie Dunn, operations director of Dunns Food and Drinks, as vice-president and Chris Gallacher, retail development controllerScotland for Booker, as junior vice-president.

Already SWA council members, Dunn and Gallacher will support Asim Sarwar,

managing director of United Wholesale (Scotland), in his role as president and also work closely with executive director, Kate Salmon.

“Succession planning is important for any organisation,” said Sarwar. “It is not only about having leaders in place for the future, it is also about having people ready to deal with challenges as the organisation develops its existing interests and ventures into new areas.”

Dunn said that wholesalers needed a “reasoned and informed voice to represent us in the wider industry and community”, adding: “I am delighted to be taking on this role at a time when I feel the Association has really evolved into an entity well placed to serve its members on issues that affect our industry.”

Kate Salmon said: “The appointments of Julie and Chris further strengthen the SWA’s position as an extremely robust and high-profile trade association.”
