The first of three special National Lottery draws over the Christmas and New Year period takes place tomorrow (2 December).
The special EuroMillions super jackpot draw has a boosted jackpot of an estimated £112m up for grabs, giving retailers an opportunity to boost sales by up to 71% ahead of the draw, according to Camelot.
Lottery retailers can also expect bumper sales from two special £15m Lotto ‘Must Be Won’ draws – the first on Christmas Eve and the second on New Year’s Eve – Camelot says both of which could boost sales by up to 65%.
In addition, a new advertising campaign from The National Lottery will help drive players into stores to buy tickets over the festive period. Directed by Oscar-winner Tom Hooper, the National Lottery Christmas love story follows two strangers who meet on a train and become lucky in love and the lottery.
Meanwhile, with 71% of National Lottery players likely to gift a Scratchcard this Christmas, this year’s festive range varies in price from £1 to £5 and includes cards called Snow Me The Money, Jolly 7s and 12 Pays of Christmas, which boasts a top prize of £100,000 a month for a year.
Camelot’s Retail Director, Jenny Blogg, said: “Christmas is always a special time for The National Lottery – and this year is no different, with lots of mega prizes on offer to get retail customers dreaming of their perfect Christmas, as well as an incredible new advertising campaign that will get people imagining the joy of winning big this Christmas.
“We hope retailers can make the most of these fantastic sales opportunities – and help National Lottery players continue raising over £30m each and every week for good causes.”
