Employees of Nottinghamshire-based Addo Food Group – owner of the Wall’s Pastry and Pork Farms brands – have raised £2,800 for local charity Canaan Trust.
Staff spent the last four weeks completing a ‘Miles for Meals’ virtual trek, following a 525-mile route between all of Addo’s production facilities.
Workers at the Tottle and Riverside Bakeries also supported the fundraising by staging a dress down week and by donating long shelf life food items to the charity.
Canaan Trust provides secure accommodation and support for homeless and vulnerable individuals. The charity also provides a comprehensive food bank service supplying food aid as well as access to toiletries and hygiene packs for anyone in need.
Samantha Hart, HR Director at Addo Food Group, said: “Despite these unprecedented times, we are exceptionally proud of the team’s efforts to support the Canaan Trust and help those who are less fortunate. Our ‘Miles for Meals’ campaign has already surpassed its target of £2,000 and we plan to continue to support the Trust and its fantastic work.”
Kevin Curtis, Project Manager at Canaan Trust, said the donation would make a “huge difference”.
He said: “In the last few weeks alone, the Trust has been supporting up to five new cases of homelessness a day, many of which have been a direct impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
“It is vital that businesses like Addo Food Group continue to support local organisations like ours.”
