Plans have been lodged to add an ATM outside Millport’s Premier Store on Cumbrae.
The move comes after The Bank of Scotland closed it branch and ATM nearby last month. The closure left the islanders with only one option to withdraw and deposit cash without having to travel to the mainland – the Post Office facility inside the Premier store.
The new plans, if approved by North Ayrshire Council, would see an ATM installed outside the Guildford Street store.
Under the proposals, the new cash point would be installed through the shopfront window to the left of the entrance door and would see the return of free 24-hour banking facilities for customers.
A design and access statement states: “The installation has been designed to anticipate and overcome the restriction that would prevent disabled persons from making full use of the service to be provided together with the needs of more vulnerable people from protection of attack and intimidation.
“The frequency of replenishment cannot be known until the ATM has been installed and a pattern of transactions established.
“It is expected to have a reasonably high level of transactions which based on other existing installations would mean that replenishment would be approximately at every seven days.”
