Motor Fuel Group (MFG) is pumping an initial £40m into upgrading the 337 Morrisons forecourts it bought earlier this year.
The makeover aims to bring the sites in line with MFG’s existing network, with a wider selection of food to go and an improved convenience-led retail offer.
The upgrades, happening from May to October, include extended opening hours, alcohol licences where appropriate, and more services like the National Lottery. The first five forecourts are scheduled to begin renovations in early May, with 15 more sites following each week until the end of October.
MFG is aiming for a “full-scale redevelopment” of the Morrisons portfolio, including valeting centres and ultra-rapid EV charging hubs. In the next five years, it plans to transform at least 100 Morrisons locations, whilst retaining the Morrisons brand.
William Bannister, MFG’s Chief Executive, said: “We are pleased to announce this initial investment into the re-development of the newly acquired Morrisons sites. This is the start of our wider plans to upgrade all of the Morrisons hubs with services to fit all of our customers evolving needs, including ultra-rapid EV charging infrastructure, food and valeting.
“Our top priority has always been, and remains, our customers and the communities within which our sites are located. Therefore, we are committed to ensuring that our investment enhances the look and feel of the newly owned sites, with MFG working in partnership with the highly respected Morrisons brand.”
