Menzies Distribution has improved the paperwork sent out with tote boxes following a successful trail at its Linwood depot.
The NFRN had lobbied Menzies over the documentation following feedback from its members.
NFRN Head of News Brian Murphy said: “We are pleased that Menzies has listened – and more importantly – acted on members’ concerns and improved the paperwork for customers.”
The NFRN had advised Menzies that many members were worried about incurring costs for returning tote boxes late. To overcome this, Menzies will now display the date of distribution on every tote ticket, detailing when it was received. This will also allow retailers to track their returns more easily.
Adding the tote ID number to parcel contents notes means that retailers will also have a record of the totes they receive.
Also, details of amended orders will be clearly listed on parcel contents notes. A reference number for these will assist retailers when discussing any claims with the wholesaler’s customer services personnel.
The system goes live from the Wakefield depot on 11th January, with Maidstone expected to follow shortly thereafter.
