McCain Foods has launched six new products with the aim of driving volume and value growth in the frozen sector.
Spicy Peri Peri Fries and Steakhouse Ridge Cut Fries (both rrp at £2.50 for 750g) are designed to capitalise on the importance of one and two person households. McCain hopes the new products will drive penetration and frequency with consumers who don’t traditionally shop the frozen food aisle on a frequent basis.
A new limited edition flavour of Wedges – American BBQ – is also being introduced with an rrp of £2 for 750g. McCain says its limited edition Wedges have a strong history of driving incremental sales within the frozen potato category, and that the new variant has a broad appeal among adults and children alike.
McCain is also adding microwavable frozen mashed potato to its range, enabling consumers to create mash straight from the freezer in three minutes. The company says Mashed Potato (rrp £1.50 for 650g) is ideal for families looking for consistency and convenience at busy tea times.
New and improved Croquettes (rrp £1.50 for 550g) are being rolled out, and a product aimed at children completes the line-up. Mash Machines (rrp £1.50 for 454g) are made with real mashed potato, prepared with sunflower oil and are low in saturated fat, and come in the shape of trains, planes, cars and boats.
