Kerry Foods is attempting to broaden the appeal of its Mattessons brand with the launch of a new snack aimed at adults on the go.
Launching on 18th May, Mattessons Strip Sticks are chicken skewers made with 100% chicken breast and high in protein. Mattessons says that although the foundations of chilled snacking were built on child and teen snacking, the brand has clearly demonstrated that there is also a great sales opportunity within adult snacking.
The launch aims to help retailers expand their meat snacking sales, a category which is currently growing at 9% year on year. 90% of this growth is incremental to the cooked meats category, meaning that consumers are not switching from one product to another, but adding to their consumption.
Charlotte Kerr, Brand Manager for Mattessons, commented: “We are seeing a shift in macro eating habits across the UK. With a brand value of nearly £80m and growth of +13.5% over the last two years, Mattessons is set to drive the growth of the cooked meats category. Our new innovation will offer retailers the opportunity to tap into the emerging trend of convenience.”
Available in Classic Roast in both a Strip Stick single 50g portion (rrp £1.49) and Strip Sticks Minis Multipack of two 30g portions (rrp £1.69), the new addition to the range will be available to impulse via Kerryfresh.
