Marmite lightens up for a summer of love (or hate)

Marmite's Summer of Love/Summer of Hate Jars

Marmite is rolling out a limited edition summer spread, available to retailers from July to September while stocks last.

Made with 100% lager yeast for a lighter summery blend, the new limited edition variant is a delicately flavoured adaptation of the traditional recipe that has been loved (and hated) by consumers for many years. In keeping with Marmite’s opinion-splitting ways, the new summer flavour will come in two illustrated ‘Summer of Love’ and ‘Summer of Hate’ jars, taking design inspiration from Woodstock and the summer of love in 1967.

Philippa Atkinson, Assistant Brand Manager for Marmite, said: “With an innate ability to create talkability and buzz, Marmite owns a unique territory and we aim to build on this with the launch of our limited edition summer spread. This summer, we want to encourage the British public to be lovers, not haters, with our new lighter tasting recipe. It is a slight twist on the traditional recipe, making it a perfect spread to have this summer.”

The ‘Summer of Hate’ jar could well become a collector’s item. Only 94 will be available across the UK – one for each day of British summer.

Available in cases of six, both 250g jars have an rrp of £3.49.
