Margaret McCloskey, Head of Operations at the NFRN, is to leave the organisation at the end of September to take up a Director’s post at business-led organisation Business in the Community.
National Vice President Stuart Reddish will head up the NFRN’s operations department for the time being.
McCloskey has worked for the NFRN for 21 years, the last six in her current role.
She has been instrumental in creating a range of new benefits and services for members, including the implementation of the Federation’s Retail Standards library of essential training modules, factsheets and checklists to help retailers implement effective procedures and achieve business growth.
NFRN National President Mike Mitchelson said: “Throughout her 21 years with the NFRN Margaret has worked tirelessly on behalf of members and we would like to thank her for her significant contribution and wish her well for the future.”
Margaret McCloskey added: “Having spent 21 fantastic years with the NFRN, the time was right to accept a directorship with a development organisation in my home country and enjoy some exciting new challenges.
“I am leaving confident in the knowledge that the NFRN will go from strength to strength and will continue offering independent retailers the support and development opportunities they need to enable them to thrive in our difficult trading environment. I would like to thank my team and business colleagues for their hard work and hope they continue to succeed.”
Stuart Reddish said: “I am sorry to see Margaret go. Over the past 21 years she has done some amazing work for the Federation and it is in a much stronger position as a result of her efforts.
“It will be very much business as usual when Margaret goes and as Chairman of the operations sub-committee I will be taking up the reins on a day to day basis in the interim.”
