Donations made through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity have hit the 10,000 mark, following a bumper month of donations to support local causes.
Last month, 170 donations were made by Nisa retailers and via trustee donations totalling over £215,000. This brought the total number of donations since the charity’s formation to a whopping 10,079.
Making a Difference Locally was established in 2008 to help independent retailers to support their local communities and is celebrating its 10th birthday this year with a raft of activity.
The charity, which has donated over £7.8m to good causes to date, raises funds in Nisa partner stores from sales of Nisa’s Heritage own-label products and branded products featured on the consumer leaflet, which carry charitable donations from the suppliers. Stores are then able to donate funds raised to a local charity or good cause of their choice within a 10-mile radius.
Donations have ranged from £50 to £100,000 and have funded everything from defibrillators to sailing boats, to day trips for care home residents.
Nisa’s Head of Charity, Kate Carroll, commented: “We’re thrilled to have achieved this significant milestone, especially in the charity’s 10th year, which demonstrates the significant contribution that Nisa retailers make to their communities.
“We know from a recent study that these donations not only provide financial benefits to the causes they support, but add social value to the wider communities and we are delighted that Nisa retailers and their customers have made a difference for thousands of local causes that matter to them over the last 10 years.”
