Co-op stores in Aviemore, in Cairngorms National Park, and Shotts, North Lanarkshire, showed off their new looks when they relaunched yesterday, after weeks of redevelopment.

Both stores serve-up an increased range of fresh, healthy and chilled produce alongside its focus on meal ideas and everyday essentials; bakery; food-to-go and meal deals; Fairtrade products; award winning wines; ready meals; pizzas; vegan and, plant-based products. All Co-op’s own branded meat is 100% British including in its pies, sandwiches and ready meals.

They have also had a Costa Coffee Express machine added and parcel collection services are available over-the-counter via Amazon and, payment services are provided through PayPoint, and an ATM provides access to cash in the community.

The Shotts store also boasts DPD parcel collection and InPost lockers.

Meanwhile, the 2,750 sq ft Aviemore outlet has self-service tills to speed up transactions during busier periods.

A soft plastic recycle unit is also available in each store to enable the communities to return ‘soft plastics’ including: crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches – ensuring all Co-op’s own food packaging is recyclable through either local authority kerbside collections, or the in-store soft plastic recycling.

Laura Hardie, Co-op Aviemore Store Manager, said: “It [the relaunch] has gone absolutely brilliantly. It has been really busy – people were queuing to come in even before we opened! Customers coming in were really positive – saying how spacious it was, and praising the range and choice.We have been delighted to be able to invest in Aviemore.”

She also handed a cheque for £250 to the Aviemore & Glenmore Community Trust as part of the re-opening celebrations.
