The Macallan has brought its 200th anniversary celebrations to an end with the launch of the third release in its ‘A Night on Earth’ series.
The limited-edition single malt, A Night on Earth in Jerez de la Frontera, nods to the Spanish region where the sherry-seasoned oak casks The Macallan matures in are made.
A Night on Earth in Jerez de la Frontera is matured in a combination of European and American sherry-seasoned oak casks. This combination delivers a richness and sweetness on the palate. The whisky’s tasting notes of pastry, grapes and anise take inspiration from the Spanish custom of eating twelve grapes before the start of the New Year and the traditional Jerez pastry, Pestiños – a rich, fried dough with sugar and aniseed or honey.
The Macallan has collaborated with artist María Melero, a native of Jerez, who has channelled her memories of the festive season in her home city to create the whisky’s packaging.
The Macallan A Night on Earth collection is a limited-edition series. Previous releases include A Night on Earth in Scotland and A Night on Earth The Journey.
A Night on Earth in Jerez de la Frontera (ABV 43%) is available now with an RSP of £110.
