More than 80 convenience store retailers from across the Lifestyle Express stores group have raised £2,640 for Make-A-Wish UK, the charity that grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.
Lifestyle Express stores across the Blakemore Wholesale estate sold tickets for a grand prize raffle to raise funds for the children’s charity.
There are currently 20,000 children and young people in the UK fighting life-threatening conditions. Make-A-Wish will grant around 1,000 wishes in 2015. It needs to raise £7.5m to achieve this, but receives no government funding or lottery grants.
Angela Powell, Senior Corporate Account Manager at Make-A-Wish, said: “We are delighted to have the support of Blakemore Wholesale for a second year and we would like to thank everybody who participated in the fundraising activities and helped to raise this fantastic amount. These funds will help us to continue granting magical wishes to some of the most deserving children in the UK.”
Blakemore Wholesale Sales Director, Nick Rose added: “This is the second year we have fundraised for Make-A-Wish across our Lifestyle Express stores estate. We have had a tremendous amount of support from customers, suppliers and the retailers themselves to help make a difference to the lives of children fighting life-limiting conditions.”
