KP Snacks is cutting the amount of plastic packaging used for six-packs of Discos, Roysters and Frisps by 35%.
This follows a further investment in flow wrap equipment by the snacking giant and will see 100 tonnes of packaging saved every year.
The move also translates to 620 fewer lorry journeys annually, reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
As well as ticking a number of sustainability boxes, the new flow-wrapped packs will also create more space on shelves, enabling retailers to display extra stock.
The new flow-wrapped packs include Frisps Variety 6-pack, Roysters T-Bone Steak six-pack and Discos Variety 6 six-pack, which all have an RSP of £1.50. Launching in a six-pack format for the first time in March, Discos Salt & Vinegar – the leading Discos flavour – will also be flow-wrapped to deliver additional packaging savings.
John Leslie, Packaging Technology Manager, KP Snacks, says: “Protecting the environment is one of the core pillars of our People and Planet programme, and we are committed to taking a responsible and proactive approach to safeguarding nature. We remain focused on reducing both our plastic packaging and carbon emissions in any way that we can.”
Discos is one of KP’s fastest-selling brands, currently growing +39.7%, while Roysters is growing +7.1% and Frisps is growing +4.3%.
