John Robertson, founder and CEO of Edinburgh-based tech firm Shoply, has been shortlisted in the Pivot Entrepreneur of the Year category at the Great British Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2020 (Scotland and Northern Ireland region).
The news follows Shoply’s listing at number 67 on the Startups 100, the UK’s longest-running index of disruptive new startups.
Shoply connects consumers to quality convenience stores in their area, enabling them to shop across the entire product range online with guaranteed delivery in under one hour.
The platform launched in 2016 as Drinkly but rebranded to support its expansion into convenience home delivery.
It is currently collaborating with the Scottish Grocers’ Federation on a partnership that will see Shoply piloted across a number of SGF member stores.
John Robertson commented: “2020 has been a pivotal year for us; moving into convenience home delivery has propelled our growth, our model proving extremely valuable during the Covid crisis for both retailers and shoppers. We have added an important new revenue stream for retail partners and we are now available at 40 locations across the UK.”
