Costcutter has added a new limited-edition Mexican chicken filling to its Independent sandwich range.
Filled with marinated chicken breast, tomato salsa, soured cream, lettuce, tomato, mature cheddar cheese and sweetcorn on soft malted bread, the limited-edition sandwich adds to Costcutter’s extensive pre-packed range. This includes 20 different variants from standard and deep-filled to wraps and ‘triples’.
Price-marked at £2.69, the Mexican Chicken sandwich is available now to all Costcutter Supermarkets Group stores, and can be sold individually or part of a meal deal offer, which comprises of a sandwich, crisps and a selected drink, all for £3.
Jenny Leetch, Brand Manager for Independent, said: “As a key signifier for the Group, food-to-go continues to grow, particularly around sandwich solutions. The UK’s sandwich market is now worth £7.85bn, with over 3.5 billion sandwiches bought a year.
“Since launching the range two years ago our Independent sandwiches are extremely popular with retailers and shoppers alike. Each quarter sees the addition of a new limited-edition filling to continue to add something new and exciting to the range. With previous limited-edition sandwiches resulting in a significant uplift in volume when launched, we look forward to gauging feedback on this brand-new flavour from both retailers and shoppers.”
