More than 38,000 illegal cigarettes, 600 vapes, and 2.5kg of tobacco have been seized in Maryhill, Glasgow, after officers raided four shops.

The operation was carried out by Police Scotland’s Greater Glasgow division, Glasgow City’s Council Trading Standards team, and HMRC.

Officers were helped by sniffer dog Boo, who is the city’s only tobacco detection dog.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Some great recoveries of illegal and unsafe vapes and tobacco.

“Our highly skilled four-legged friends are always happy to lend a nose.”
