Heineken has taken full ownership of Beavertown Brewery, after buying the remaining shares in London’s largest brewery for an undisclosed sum.
As part of the deal, Beavertown founder Logan Plant (pictured left) will step down as CEO to assume a new advisory role, with Heineken veteran Jochen Van Esch (pictured right), taking on the new Managing Director role.
Heineken purchased a minority share in Beavertown in 2018, and since then has invested significantly in the business, which will continue to operate separately from Dutch brewing giant.
Jochen Van Esch has been with Heineken for more than 20 years, with the last five of these spent working closely alongside the Beavertown team. During this time a new brewery has been built, the first Beavertown pub opened its doors, and the brand has become one of the most popular super-premium beers in the UK.
He commented: “Beavertown’s journey will not see huge change because the strategy is right – the brand is in growth, it has a fantastic culture and work ethos and people love the beers. We will support, invest and grow the company, and I am incredibly excited about the future.”
Heineken hopes the new ownership structure will allow the brand to grow significantly, and the deal could see up to 50 new jobs created.
